Last updated 15 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data DroneClean (the website and the web app) collects, why, and the choices you have.

In short
  • We use your videos to remove the shadow and give them back to you.
  • We may also use uploaded clips to train and test our models, so DroneClean gets better. You can opt out at any time, with one switch in your profile.
  • We never sell your videos, never publish them, never use them for ads.
  • Uploads are deleted after 7 days, clean videos after 30.
  • Payments go through Stripe: we never see your card.

1. Who we are

DroneClean is run by Matteo Dante, Italy (an individual, not yet VAT-registered), the controller of the personal data described here (“DroneClean”, “we”, “us”).

For anything about your data, write to support@droneclean.app.

2. What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email address and profile picture, which Google gives us when you sign in with your Google account, and Google's identifier for that account. Your picture shows on your profile and in the page header, loaded from Google's servers. We never see your Google password.
  • Your videos: the clips you upload, the point and size you mark on the shadow, and what we make from them (clean videos and free previews). Videos can show places and people, and their files can carry details such as the date, the camera and the location where they were filmed.
  • Your purchases: which pack you bought, when, and its transaction reference. Payments are handled by Stripe: we never see your card details.
  • Credit requests (the free beta): how many credits you ask for, what you tell us you are working on, the link you add if you add one, and our answer.
  • Counting free credits (the free beta): to give each connection only so many welcome credits a day, we store a keyed hash of your IP address (a code made from it with a secret key, from which the address cannot be read back) with the day and a count. Never the address itself.
  • How you use DroneClean: your balance, the clips you clean and their status, and technical data such as your device, browser, IP address and request logs.
  • How you use the site, only if you allow analytics: the pages you open, the site that sent you (without its search terms), the steps you take in the editor and when buying credits (for example: a clip opened, a preview made, a pack bought, with its length, size and price), your device, browser and approximate location (country and city, from your IP address), under a random id of this browser that is never linked to your account. Never your videos, their names, your email address or your name.
  • Messages: what you write when you contact us.

How we use your videos to improve DroneClean

Removing a shadow well depends on seeing many real clips: grass, sand, water, snow, fast FPV flights and slow cinematic shots. So we may keep uploaded videos, the marks you place and the results, and use them to train and test the models that do the work. People working on DroneClean may look at them for that purpose.

We do not sell your videos, we do not use them for advertising, we do not publish them and we do not use them in our marketing without your separate permission. We do not use them to identify the people who appear in them. If you do not want your clips used this way, turn off “Help improve DroneClean” in your profile's settings, or write to support@droneclean.app: from then on we leave them out, and we delete the copies we kept for this purpose.

4. Who we share it with

Only with the providers that run DroneClean for us, under contracts that bind them to use your data for us alone:

  • Railway: hosting of our servers, database and video storage, in the European Union.
  • RunPod: the graphics servers that remove the shadow, in the European Union.
  • Stripe: payments on the web. Purchases are sold through Link, Stripe's reseller and merchant of record, which handles your payment details, taxes and receipts under Stripe's and Link's own privacy notices.
  • Sentry: technical error reports, performance traces and diagnostic logs, when monitoring is enabled. We exclude account identity, request bodies, cookies, video files and signed video links from these diagnostics. We do not record your screen or video playback for monitoring.
  • PostHog: product analytics, only if you allow them, stored in the European Union. Your browser sends them through our own server, which passes on no cookies of ours. We do not record your screen with it.

Google is not one of them: when you choose Continue with Google, Google confirms who you are and gives us the account details above. Your Google account stays under Google's own privacy policy, and Google lists DroneClean among the apps connected to it.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it.

5. Where your data goes

We store and process your data in the European Union. If a provider needs to move data outside the European Economic Area, we make sure it is protected: by a decision of the European Commission that the country's protection is adequate, or by the Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep it

  • Uploaded videos: 7 days, the time to clean them and to preview them.
  • Clean videos: 30 days, so you can download them again; free previews: 7 days.
  • Clips kept to improve DroneClean: up to 24 months, then deleted, unless you object sooner.
  • Your account: until you delete it. Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (in Italy, 10 years).
  • Credit requests: as long as your account exists; they are deleted with it. The keyed hash of your IP address that counts the free credits: two days, then it is deleted at our server's next clean-up (usually within minutes, at the latest the next time the service runs).
  • Technical logs: up to 30 days. Analytics: up to 12 months.

7. Your rights

You can ask to access your data, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it and to receive it in a portable format. You can object at any time to the use of your videos to improve DroneClean, and to any other use based on our legitimate interests. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Write to support@droneclean.app, or delete your account from your profile: that deletes your account, your videos and your jobs at once. We answer within one month.

You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Italy the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or the authority where you live or work.

8. Cookies and storage in your browser

DroneClean uses only what it needs to work:

  • Sign-in cookies (set by our server): a session cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 60 days, or until you sign out, and, while you sign in with Google, a cookie of at most 5 minutes that ties Google's answer to your browser.
  • Settings in your browser's storage: your appearance (dark or light), your cookie choice, and whether this browser was signed in last time, so the page header keeps its place while it loads.
  • Stripe's checkout, only when you open it to buy credits, sets the cookies it needs for the payment and to prevent fraud.

These need no consent. We do not use advertising cookies. With your permission only (“Allow analytics”), PostHog keeps a random id and the current visit in your browser's storage, so the pages and steps of a visit can be counted together (section 4). Nothing of it loads before you answer. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings”, at the bottom of every page and at the top of the editor (its shield button): “Only essential” stops the analytics and deletes their id. A creator's link page counts how often it is opened on our server, without any cookie (section 9).

9. The creator program

Some creators share a link or a code that gives new accounts extra credits, and earn a commission on the purchases of the customers who join with it (the creator program terms).

  • If your account claims a creator's code, we record which creator, when, and whether it came through their link. We use it to add the extra credits and to work out the creator's commission on your purchases for a limited time, 12 months unless agreed otherwise. Legal basis: our contract with you, and legal obligations for the accounting records. When you delete your account, this link to the creator goes with it; the commission records our accounts must keep stay, without your identity where possible.
  • Creators see only monthly totals (opens of their link, claims, paying customers, money received), never who you are, what you bought or when.
  • A creator's link page counts its opens as a plain number per day. It sets no cookie and keeps nothing on your device that ties you to the creator, and the count holds no IP address or other detail about you.
  • If you are a creator, we keep your name, your email, your link and code, when you accepted the terms, your commissions and your payouts (amount, date, method and reference; no bank or PayPal details), for as long as tax and accounting law requires (in Italy, 10 years).

10. Children

DroneClean is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to support@droneclean.app and we will delete it.

11. Security

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Videos are stored privately and reached only through signed links that expire. Only the people who run DroneClean can access your data, and only when their work needs it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update this page and its date. If a change matters to how we use your data, we tell you by email or in the app before it applies.
